Beautiful Old Bedroom

I’m pretty excited about our master bedroom coming together. It’s starting to feel like a move in date is just around the corner!

This room was the first that Jared and I started ripping apart on the first day we were able to get into the house. Remember the closet floor we tore up to discover a 1950s edition of the Boston Globe? 8680360091_ff020b6674_oNow the closet is clean and ready to be primed. We removed the linoleum floors, the drop ceiling, and some shelves on the sides. We’re also going to hang the bars a little higher. I’m painting the shelves white and the walls the same sandy color as our bedroom. I can’t tell you how excited I am to get the rest of our clothes and shoes out of storage and have everything perfectly pressed in this big and bright closet!IMG_1071The rest of the room has come a long way too. Remember the drop ceiling, wallpaper and shag carpeting?8680359967_4b400c88d9_oHere’s a different view but you get the point! Bright! Open! Spacious! And that’s just after patching, primer, and a little caulking around the trim.IMG_1070As much as I love all the perfect new walls and trim and floors we will have on the first floor- and believe me I do! There’s something about this original floor and original trim in these bedrooms that makes me feel so connected to the history of the house. I’m proud we didn’t just knock it all down. Instead we brought it back to life. Peeled off layer upon layer and gave this house back its dignity and integrity. It’s a modern home but true to its roots. And I like that.
