Isn’t that the sweetest? To grow a garden is to believe in tomorrow. One of my all time favorite people said that. Miss Audrey Hepburn.

So since my garden reveal I’ve been watering and praying like crazy for all my new roots to grab hold and never let go! While there’s been no miraculous growth, it does seem to be thriving. But there were still improvements to be made.

First, the ugly cement slab in the left corner. Gross! What an eyesore. So we did a little camouflaging a la dirt and mulch and these fabulous country pots!

I think I’m cool with never finding that metal milk jug I wanted for the garden because now I’ve got some milking pots! Love it!

Then there was the serious problem of drainage. Since the front of the garden is level to the sidewalk, I was getting a lot of run off from watering. It desperately needed to be contained. And it was my Dad’s buddy Joe to the rescue! Joe happened to have a mish-mash of concrete forms, pavers, and stones at his shop that he needed to dispose of. No need for disposal when you have homeowners that would take almost anything for free! (More on our trip to Joe’s tomorrow).

A neat row of pavers now keeps water contained in the garden and just looks so much prettier really!
