Week in Review | July 28-August 1

It’s August! Wow! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer.

We’ll be fitting in one last relaxing vacation BB (before baby) this month. I’m super excited to spend a week on a lake, swimming and sunning, not caring how round I am in a bathing suit because I’ll be with my fabulous family.

And speaking of family, today is going to be another different kind of ‘Week in Review’ because I’m dedicating it to my superstar cousin Rachel who is one week away from completing a cross country bike tour with the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. Rachel’s been blogging too and I’ve spent my summer forgoing design blogs to read Rachel’s adventures every morning. You can check out her adventures here: http://rachelrides4k.wordpress.com/ or take a look at some of my favorite photos of hers below.

Finish strong Rachie!

Rachel 4K

  1. Day one of the 70-day trek started with a send-off ceremony in Baltimore, Maryland. Rachel along with the four other teams that will make their way to the Pacific Ocean dipped their back tires into the Atlantic Ocean. They’ll dip the front tire in the Pacific next week!
  2. Riding up to 100 miles a day, many bikers dedicate their days to a loved one. On day one, Rachel dedicated her ride to her Dad, John DeFronzo.
  3. Niagara Falls, Mount Rushmore, National & State Parks, and even the Corn Palace in South Dakota! Rachel and her team biked through 13 states and saw some of the countries finest landmarks and vistas.
  4. There were rest days, sick days, and “the hunt for food donations” days but my favorite pics were ones like these of Rachel (the gorgeous redhead) being silly with her teammates. I think we all have life changing experiences that bond us with people and teach us more than we could ever read in a book – and I know that this summer is one that Rachel will never forget. Life is like a bike pedal, they can push you down but you’ll always come back up! We’re so so proud of you Rachie! See you soon!

Week in Review | July 21-25

Another super busy week flying by without time to pour over my beloved blogs! Remember the days of sipping coffee and perusing lovely post after post before I even had to tackle an email? Now it’s all work, work, baby stuff, work, baby stuff. But it’s fabulous so I’ll try not to complain. I just hope you all forgive the lack of proper “Week in Reviews” around here.

Today, I’ll leave you with some happy nursery art. There will always be a special place in my heart for Dr. Seuss and I think this quote is fantastic for a nursery, dorm room, or corner office!

Week in Review | July 14-18

Pretty quiet on the blog front this week, eh? Sorry about that but I’ve been tackling a lot of new projects this week. There seems to be less and less time to read blogs or blog myself and with a baby on the way, time isn’t exactly going to free up anytime soon.

But I’m terribly proud of the things that are consuming my time at the moment. My job continues to challenge and excite me. I learn and grow and most importantly laugh every day at the office. On the home front, Jared and I are prepping for the little one- both in the house and in the classroom. MIT offers fantastic wellness classes for students and employees and we have a fabulously quirky Birthing Class instructor. I love her to pieces and we’ve only just met really! And my final time suck goes to a new volunteer position I’ve accepted. I’ll be sure to fill you in on that soon but in the meantime, just call me the Leslie Knope of Winthrop!

Week in Review | July 7-11

Yay it’s Friday! I don’t know about you but I’m ready for a relaxing weekend. So let’s make this a quick WIR, shall we?

Week in Review

  1. Dina of Honey & Fitz claims that there are “few things in this world that make me happier than driving or walking through a quaint New England seaside town.” I couldn’t agree more Dina, except I would add checking out a quaint New England home tour! And this Cohasset home stopped me in my tracks when I saw that fabulous salmon colored front door.
  2. Any blog post titled “An Ode to Toast” gets my attention. Oh She Glows made me drool over these four vegan combos.
  3. The Chic Table served up this ice cream pie perfect for these hot nights! Or any night in the life of a pregnant lady!
  4. I’m in love with this farmhouse country kitchen showcased on the Inspired Room. Especially the mint green door! Wow, it was a good week for doors, eh?

The Week in Review | June 16-20

I want to start off today’s post with a big thank you to my family. It’s been an emotional two weeks for me. Jared’s been away visiting our friend in Italy, I had to travel to San Francisco for work, I had another baby appointment so I got to hear my little one’s heartbeat again, and in the midst of all of these ups and downs and in betweens, my family was dealing with the loss of my Aunt.

Whether I’m beaming with delight or shedding some mournful tears, I always come back to the fact that I am so so grateful to be back in Massachusetts surrounded by family. There is no one that I’d rather share the joys and sorrows with than the people around us here. So thanks my peeps. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this cast of characters.

Now let’s get things back to normal and check out some more emotionally stable bloggers…

Week in Review

  1. Julia Ryan shared her progress on the Big Boy Room. Love the neutrals with a pop of green. Maybe I’ll borrow for my little boy or girl room.
  2. This set up for Coco + Kelley‘s Saturday Supper Club is what I envision for our backyard harvest table set up. No curbside dining chair is safe from me! Sand it, paint it, call it a backyard dining chair!
  3. Thank you Dear Lillie for showing just how stunning an IKEA dresser can be with a little creativity!
  4. Savvy Home took us around this Sag Harbor house and I have to say, this photo made me fall in love with painted ship lap. Although is it still ship lap when it’s hung vertical? Maybe its just the nicest wood paneling I’ve ever seen then!
  5. And finally, I had to include yet another Julia Ryan post because when I came across this photo from her collection of white sofa inspirations, I wanted nothing more than to curl up in it and take the most wonderful afternoon nap right there!

The Week in Review | June 2-6

I shouldn’t complain since last summer we were heads down in renovation madness but boy do we have a busy couple of weeks! In fact, I’m pretty sure we’re doing something every weekend through mid-August. All happy, happy occasions and catching up with those we love (and abandoned last summer!) though. Unfortunately, our DIY projects may suffer from our social calendar. So let’s end this week with some pretty summer projects from the blogosphere instead…

Week in Review

  1. My Sweet Savannah made this cute towel rack out of a discarded wood panel. So simple and fun!
  2. Speaking of weekend’s filling up, don’t forget to set aside the 15th for Dad! I’ve never been one for extravagant gifts valuing an experience or memory over stuff but homemade gifts certainly trump all! The Chic Self is whipping up some homemade shaving cream for Dad which looks surprisingly simple!
  3. Daily Dream Decor walks us through a fab house with retro touches. This antique kitchen island is my favorite!
  4. I happen to share Jones Design Company’s love of white bedding. Is there anything better than flopping into big poufy white duvet at the end of a long day? It’s like floating on a cloud!
  5. Another stunning house tour came from Savvy Home. This Montauk Cottage is exactly what you’d want from a beach house- especially this huge shower stall to wash off after a day in the sand.

The Week in Review | May 12-16

I hope you enjoyed all the sun porch posts over the last few weeks. I promise not to bore you with that little crooked room any more! In fact, Where We Are Blog is taking a bit of a turn next week. We have an announcement to make and I bet you can guess what it is! Spoiler alert: we’re not moving! But it does involve a construction project of sorts. For now, here’s a little taste of the blogosphere…

Week in Review

  1. It was all about the outdoors this week! Kristin at the Hunted Interior painted her shed black. Way to go bold Kristin! I think it paid off! Especially with that gorgeous bone white plate display! Genius!
  2. It’s Overflowing is ready to overflow into the back yard and gives some great tips on outdoor entertaining.
  3. If you’re planning on an active summer, Pottery Barn’s Inside & Out Blog has great storage solutions for all that gear.
  4. A gourmet s’mores bar?! How do I get on that invite list? Check out these fun options like Chocolate Graham Crackers and Sea Salt Caramel Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares from Life on Virginia Street. Yum!

The Week in Review | May 5-9

Well I hope by now you have some sort of a Mother’s Day plan. Whether it’s a full fledged day at the spa or a homemade card, tell your Mom she’s awesome because let’s face it, she really freakin’ is! Here’s some fab ideas from my fellow bloggers…

Week in Review

  1. Pottery Barn’s Inside Out Blog featured a classic breakfast in bed. Though I’m sure this one took a master chef of a husband to prepare. Most kids opt for the classic Captain Crunch breakfast in bed when serving Mom.
  2. Heather from Whisperberry turned a tea tin and a travel mug into an adorable gift for Mom with this “tea-riffic mom” label!
  3. Nothing says Happy Mother’s Day like a homemade creation. Cranberry Almond Granola Bites? Yes please. Get the recipe from Camille Styles.
  4. Or DIY with Mom and put together this herb tower! Very impressive Cottage & Vine!
  5. Who hasn’t picked dandelions for Mom at one point or another? A couple of blooms in a berry basket is a sweet treat! Check out more floral ideas over at Shoes Off Please.

The Week in Review | April 28 – May 2

Anyone else sick of the rain? Farewell April you chilly, soggy, biatch. Bring on the sunshine! Here are some bright pics from the blogosphere to jump start your May!

Week in Review

  1. Succulents seem to be all the rage lately. I guess someone got the memo that they are black thumb immune. These things can survive anywhere in anything. Waiting on Martha arranged these beautifully in classic terracotta pots.
  2. Beautiful prints are a popular idea for Mother’s Day this year and Erin at Elements of Style featured a number of great choices including this darling herb print.
  3. Emily & Sarah from Boxwood Clippings created a customized family tree using a Martha Stewart template and a Target frame!
  4. Cottage and Vine stumbled upon this stunning kitchen makeover. It’s actually from an episode of American Dream Builders which I am absolutely obsessed with! Nate Berkus can do no wrong!
  5. Another gorgeous kitchen! House Tweaking visited friends with this beautifully renovated old house. This kitchen with it’s tall ceilings is completely dreamy!

The Week in Review | April 21-25

Hope you enjoyed our week back in the blogosphere. Here’s what some other busy bloggers have been up to…

Week in Review

  1. Looks like I’m not the only one hosting an Easter Brunch! Can’t wait to try these Blackberry & Lavender Honey Nut Thins from Leah at Freutcake. And on a log slice platter, no less! A woman after my own heart!
  2. Jessica at Little Baby Garvin fueled up with this festive iced coffee bar on Easter Sunday.
  3. And what a spread from Pink Pistachio! Drooling over those cinnamon rolls!
  4. So glad it looks like most of the country had a beautiful sunny spring day on Easter! Kelly at Talk of the House welcomed the sunshine with a homemade forsythia wreath.
  5. And Rene at Cottage and Vine showed off her gorgeous window boxes with plant-by-plant breakdown.
