It was really important to me to finish Jared’s office last week while he was away working in Richmond. As much as he loves New England, I was the one that really pushed to come back up here and not only did Jared do that but he worked in the basement of my parent’s house for 9 months while we renovated. And once we did move in, he never pushed for his office to be completed but rather, just worked in the chaos of the unfinished second floor bedroom. So while he was gone, he knew I was painting his office on the third floor but had no idea I was so focused on finishing it completely.
It all started months ago when we began caulking all the gaps in the walls and ceiling boards and updating the electrical. Last week, I caulked the remainder of the gaps and got to work on painting. The walls were done in the same Snowfall White as the other third floor room, the trim is the same white pearl finish as the rest of the house, and the floor was done in a simple black.
Once all the painting was done, it was just a matter of getting all the furniture upstairs and unpacking a lot of boxes. I spent a couple of really late nights getting everything organized but it was so worth it to see Jared’s face when he walked in the space.
This low wall was completely transformed with our IKEA bookshelves turned on their side.
And the black floors look super sleek but still old and full of character.
After almost a full year of moving and renovating and working from the sofa on a laptop, I know Jared is pleased to have his office and will enjoy this space for years to come.
