Home Sweet Home

It took three straight days of unpacking over 50 boxes but somehow, it already feels like home. I have to admit, I don’t handle these situations well. All of our stuff rumbling around in boxes and bags in the back of trucks and trunks and splattered throughout multiple rooms and floors. Holy anxiety Batman! I am a self proclaimed control freak and neat freak so I was pretty high strung this weekend even though it was such an exciting and a happy occasion.

But all the stress is wearing away and all that’s left is a gorgeous home for my hubs and I to enjoy. Here’s a little recap of the weekend. First, pile in the boxes! It seems like so long ago that I packed these up from our loft in Richmond. It wasn’t easy to part with all the wedding gifts we had just received!

Then there was the mess of people traipsing through and dusty boxes on our newly stained floors.

But no worries, I have a secret weapon that will take care of that. Do you robot? More on that next week. So my first mission was to get our bedroom in order. As tempting as it may be to unload the many many kitchen boxes, I knew that at the end of the day, we’re going to want a comfy bedroom! So upstairs it is- and they are beautiful stairs, don’t you think?

After hours of unpacking and assistance from Dad and Jared on the curtains and shades, we finally ended up with a relaxing and perfectly organized bedroom.

This closet kinda sold me on this house. So yeah, I’m a little proud of it…

As you can imaging with Jared working from home, it’s kind of a big deal to get our internet set up. Enter Comcast. Even the cable guy commented on how nice our floors were! But that’s where my love for Comcast ends. After his visit, we had cable… but no internet. Poor Jared was on the phone with representatives for an hour Sunday and 2 hours Monday and finally they came back to the house on Tuesday. So yeah, we have internet now hence the blog posts.

With our TV set up, I knew I needed to tackle the living room next. Ta da!

A little sparse still but getting there. And as you can see from the photo above, the dining room is still filled with miscellaneous stuff and those three gaping holes in the back that our built ins will eventually, well… be built into.

And finally! Finally! Finally! Our kitchen! I can’t tell you how much fun this was to set up! It was like my bridal shower and wedding all over again. “Oh yeah, my gravy boat!” “Oooo! The Pottery Barn china!” “Aw man! I forgot about this awesome pasta pot!”

It’s the best! I love love love our home and I love love love the man I share it with and I love love love my parents for helping us out so much. Is that enough love for you? How about just one more cutesy story- After major food shopping, Jared and I cracked open some bubbly and toasted to our home and what a summer it’s been.

Even though we’re moved in- there’s still A LOT to do. So keep reading! I look forward to sharing even more of our house projects with you!
