Tiptoe Through the Tulips

Remember this window in our half bath?

It’s not real stained glass. It’s one of those craft kits you can get at Michael’s or something. And it’s just so not my style. So my apologies to the Picasso who created these little tulips but they had to go.

I had read a blog post about these and that all it took to remove them was a razor blade, paint thinner, and patience. So when I asked my Dad for a razor blade at the end of a long day of work, he got a little nervous that I had gotten fed up with the renovation and was ready to just off myself. But no, I was just ready to attack these tulips and get my half bath window back to normal.

The scraping was absolutely necessary to get the gooey black lines that held the colored “glass” off.

But once I got a hold of those colored pieces, those just peeled right off.

After a real scrubbing with paint thinner I used the razor again as a sort of squeegee to get the remaining goop off. A couple wipes of Windex and my windows were perfect! This half bathroom is our only working toilet and sink at the moment so we’re waiting until the upstairs bath is in working condition so we can work in here. But at least this window is one thing checked off the half bath list! Let there be light!
